"Finding Hi‘ilawe" is a reflection on the story of Hi‘ilawe.
After falling in love with a young man named Kakalaoa, their relationship was challenged. So the beautiful Hi‘ilawe transformed herself into a waterfall and Kakalaoa transformed into a large boulder at the base of the falls to always be with Hi‘ilawe.
Hi‘ilawe Falls in located in Waipio Valley, where the couple lived, and is intentionally very difficult to access.
